Erie Insurance Harness Power of Social Media to Improve Local Agent Marketing


The Business Need

Erie Insurance, a leading provider of high-quality auto, home, business, and life insurance, serves customers through over 2,000 agents located in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.
In early 2014, the Erie Management Team evaluated the company’s online presence and found that although the corporate presence was strong, many local agents needed to improve their social media presence and search engine rankings to increase brand awareness and recruit new customers. Because many agents were not fluent in social media, Erie needed a partner that could not only guide, but actually run, social media initiatives on behalf of the agents.


The Little Dog Solution

Erie Insurance turned to Little Dog Social Media to act as the social media resource for local Erie agents. The team at Little Dog works with each agent to develop a customized strategy to create and maintain a strong social media presence. The list of services provided by Little Dog includes:

  • Building and maintaining branded social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and Yelp
  • Drafting custom social media content for every agent
  • Developing and managing Google AdWords campaigns
  • Monitoring all social media platforms for comments, reviews, and messages
  • Writing monthly reports of social media management activities and results

The main goal of the initiative was to help Erie agents take advantage of social media to reach new customers and grow their business.
